I wanted to see how it fared against the new heavy trap format. Yesterday I spent my entire time on DevPro playing with my Dragunity deck. I’ll be sure to share how it goes sometime next week. I am however, a little more confident than I have been the past few weeks. I don’t expect to win tomorrow but I never do anyway. It’s been testing well on DevPro, but then again, so does everything I try on there. I’ve made a few changes to the deck list to make it more relevant with the current banlist, but the majority of the deck is the same. There are only a few combos in the deck but they work really well and the deck can make Rank 4 monsters with ease. I have a history of misplaying very badly when I’m in a tough match-up, but Battlin’ Boxers are hard to mess up. I knew Lead Yoke was powerful (and very annoying to get rid of) but I forgot how simple the deck was to use.

I played it a few days ago on DevPro, when I was sick of my other decks, and I was surprised at how well it held up against decks similar to the ones they use at my locals. I think tomorrow I will be taking my Battlin’ Boxer deck. Because of that, I’ve been struggling every week against decks and players that are far superior. As I’ve explained in several posts now, the decks I have just aren’t cut out for this format. I might still go for trades and casual playing, but I think I’m done with tournament play for the foreseeable future.Īfter the horrible time I had at last week’s locals, I spent a few days re-evaluating my deck choices. They like having me around, even if just because I’m an easy win. I don’t know how the other players at my locals will take my decision though. I love playing the game, but I can’t understand why people will pay so much to play it. I’m not sure why it took me so long to come to this conclusion, but I’m glad I finally did. Very few people talk on DevPro which is definitely more my style. I also don’t have to listen to the few condescending people that frequent my locals. But paying that just to lose time and time again is unacceptable.īesides, with DevPro still working just fine, for FREE, why would I pay to play Yugioh? I have access to way more cards online than I do in person, and it costs me $0 when I lose a match. If I play every weekend for a year, its $260! I would be cool with it if I was winning now and then, or even coming close. If I play every weekend, that’s $20 a month. Looking back at how much I’ve spent every weekend, just to lose a tournament, its kinda crazy. Now however, since our store is no longer an “Official Tournament Store”, only the winners get packs. When I started playing a good while back, you got a pack of cards just for entering the tournament. All I do is help buy the packs for the winners. In addition to that, I get nothing in return. That’s entirely too much money to spend on a “childrens’ card game”.Įven ignoring the cost of cards, it costs me $5 a week just to play in my local tournament. I mean, the only reason I haven’t been running my Constellar deck is because I am too cheap to buy a playset of Constellar Sombres the price on a set of 3 is around $40 right now. The fact that I’m cheap has definitely had an impact on my performance when I play. Yugioh is a very challenging game to master, especially if your like me and “refuse to buy expensive cards” as a guy at my locals so eloquently put it. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about whether or not to continue pursuing this game. New strategy for playing Yu-Gi-Oh! in 2014: Stop paying for it.

So far there is only one video it’s a duel from DevPro in which I win by using Magic Cylinder. If you’re interested, click the link below. Everyone was laughing at my epic loss, so it was worth it, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing something that stupid in a tournament.Īlso, I’ve started working on a YouTube channel where I can post some YuGiOh related material in the future. I once took the challenge against a Madolche deck and I was annihilated during my opponent’s next turn.

If you’re playing in a non-competitive environment, or know you’ll lose regardless like me, taking the Maxx C challenge can be very entertaining. If you’re not sure what that is, check out this video here that explains it some and shows how it works. I wish I could see the original episode that had this in it so I would know if it was accurate or if it was just a goof, but either way it made me chuckle and brought to mind the Maxx C challenge. I was enjoying the song, watching them duel and trying to figure out where the creators come up with this stuff when I noticed something strange: I was watching some of my favorite videos on YouTube (the Yugioh Abriged Series) when I came across this one.
